Kobe Bryant the Black Mamba

by student reporter Armando Bautista, May 2008

Kobe Bryant is an amazing basketball player who stands out from many other basketball players because he always gives his best whether he’s sick or healthy.

Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1978. Before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996, he got drafted out of high school by the Charlotte Hornets, but because he refused to play for any other team but the Lakers, the Hornets traded him to the Lakers.

Today he is in the 2008 NBA playoffs and only 1 win away from going to the finals. He was awarded the season’s MVP after leading his team to the playoffs as the first seed in the Western Conference. Kobe Bryant’s position is shooting guard, his height is 6 feet 6 inches, his weight is 205 lbs, and his jersey number is #24.

7th Grade Basketball Team

by student reporter Armando Bautista, April 2008

The Salmon Creek 7th grade basketball team, called the Salmon Creek Sharks, recently finished up a tough season with one win and nine losses. The coach, Ed Hanson, says the boys worked hard and learned a lot. The basketball players were Armando Bautista, Christian Canela, Sam Kemiji, Jacob Colbert, Riley Harden, Mark Hanson, Kyle Keough, Pierce La Blue, Colter Bienas, and Kindy Connally-Stewar.

The one game that they won was against Monte Rio. The Sharks almost won the game against Hillcrest when they were up by eleven points, but then Hillcrest pulled ahead. The players agreed that the most exciting game the Sharks had this season was probably the game against Windsor, when they were tied twenty-seven to twenty-seven but then lost the game in overtime.

Sebastopol Little League

by student reporter Bryce Quayle, March 2008

Sebastopol little league is the local baseball league. There are 6 teams in the majors division, and six Salmon Creek students play in the majors. There are a lot of other students from Salmon Creek in the league that are in the smaller or bigger divisions.

Most of the Salmon Creek students are doing pretty well. Some of the players are Kieran Newell, Riley Harden, Gonzalo Santibanez, Jacob Brady, Jacob Colbert, Sam Kemiji, Blayne Quayle, and Bryce Quayle.

For the first time this year, Forestville is playing in the Sebastopol league but the Sebastopol teams have separate standings from Forestville. But Sebastopol has their own league record with all the other Sebastopol teams. That’s how Sebastopol little league has been for along time there are a lot of other leagues like Rohnert park, Petaluma and Forestville But Sebastopol is a really good league.
